“ The best sandwich I've had in a while- soft brioche bun, yummy steak and onion, $3.50 for a hot cup of chai. Excellent ambiance, plenty of natural light, clean warehouse with exposed brick vibe. Can be busy and hard to find a table, but it doesn't take that long. I really enjoyed this spot, and would love to come back to try their baked goods (lemon kouign-amann, maple bun) ”
“ EVERYTHING here is SO good. Must've been so hungry I did not take pictures but the breakfast sandwiches are our favorite and also the polenta and eggs! The Vermonter has such a classic taste that you could really have this as a sandwich every day. Biscuit is as good as it looks ”

“ I visited August First on a Sunday morning and the line was really long! I think we waited close to 30 minutes in line before we ordered. We ordered the Day Maker Breakfast Sandwich, which had egg, cheddar cheese, arugula, red onion and topped with smoked bacon fat aioli and tomato habanero jam on a brioche bun, the Eat the East breakfast sandwich, which has egg, cheddar cheese, cumin onion chutney and maple curry aioli on a brioche bun and a Griddled Maple Biscuit, which was served with maple butter and strawberry jam. Since the place was really busy, we ordered it to go, but thankfully found seating right before our order was ready. Both sandwiches were delicious and had such great flavors. The biscuit was also so good and a definite must try. Overall, go here if you're looking for a delicious breakfast sandwich. You won't be disappointed! ”
“ First time there. Line was out the door, but we expected that for leaf peepin season. The place has a cool, rustic vibe. While we would've loved to try some of the more hearty meals, but opted for pastries due to time constraints. Next time we will definitely go for the eggs and avocado toast that looked so good! We got the kouign Amman fall spice edition and it was so good!! Perfect seasoning! We also tried the maple biscuit. The pastries were just amazing! ”
“ After a whirlwind of a week, I found myself alone in Burlington, Vermont for a day. Lugged my suitcase over to August First for some peace and some breakfast. Ordered polenta and eggs, which came with some large slabs of pork belly. Very comforting. Also ordered a maple latte because it seemed Vermont-y. Yum. Seems like a nice place to hang out. No laptops allowed, so I mostly people watched. Wide range of ages - lots of grandpas, but also lots of younger people in grandpa-chic. At one point, I saw a pretty sick spider land on someone. I think I freaked the person out by pointing it out. I hope the spider made it out ok. ”
“ Large garbage converted into a cute local breakfast and lunch spot with natural lighting. The breakfast sandwiches we tried were fantastic. Good portion of protein. Soft brioche bun that could sufficiently hold the contents of the sandwich. Thoughtful spreads and accompaniments. The smoked bacon aioli in particular was finger licking good. Staff are very friendly. They also have a nice menu of coffee beverages. Would definitely come back here. ”
“ From their pastries and breads to their sandwiches, all of the stuff this place produces seems to be delicious. I wish I took a picture of the sandwich I ordered. I sadly ate it way too fast cause it really was that good. Get the steak sandwich, you went regret it lol. I ordered some pastries too. They were all good. A fresh maple biscuit is LIFE. The service is pretty good and you'll get your food pretty quickly, especially if they aren't to busy. I recommend you come before they get too busy. Come bless your taste buds! ”
“ I researched the best brunch in town and this came up. We weren't very hungry once we got there but it was delicious nonetheless. Place was buzzing but we had no trouble getting a table. I got the breakfast sandwich with sausage and it was delicious. My mom got a lemon scone and coffee and loved the scone. Staff was pleasant and efficient and the menu looked great! ”
“ Great cozy vibes inside. Pretty busy on a Sunday morning, but service was quick and we managed to find seating. Ordered the kale salad and mushroom toast (which I believe was a special), they were both incredible. Best salad I've had in a while- beets were super fresh and the dressing was tangy. The fried mushrooms on the toast were lovely as well. ”
